Q: I see that this is listed as GVC points. If that is so, why is there a certain week assigned to it. It's my understanding that a points system is more of an open system and there is no assigned week to vacation. If I am wrong would you please educate me. Also- why are you selling this unit? Are you unhappy with the time share. Sorry to be nosey. I just want to know what the reason is before I purchase something of this value. Thanks for your honesty.
A: First most deeded points are attached to a week and home resort. It has something to do with deeding them. It also I believe gives you priority at your home resort, meaning if you want to stay there you get first dibs. We are a resale company. I cannot tell you why the current owners are selling. I honestly don't know. I can tell you most of our inventory comes from people who have had major life changes and can no longer travel or afford to travel. This happens alot when people get older and go on fixed incomes. All of the people I have spoken to about Hilton speak nothing but good about them. We do not get many in and they sell fairly fast which tells me they are a good company. I hope this puts your mind at ease. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

Holiday Inn Orlando Florida RCI Gold Crown Timeshare
Q: I'm still looking at this time share and have a few more questions. How long does it take to be transferred over to my name. It seems that new timeshares take about 3 months to get everything lined up. Just wondering if this was any different. I already helped my dad get a new timeshare here but it was about 16k or so. Why is this so much less. Is there a catch? Will the timeshare expire? Is it yearly or every other year I get it? Can I trade it for points? What is the point value? I've stayed there twice and really like it. Is it on the new side or old side. I cant seem to find a map online of where the unit is located. Ive stayed in the back of the park both times and really enjoyed the quiet time. Hope to hear back soon.

On the resale market you really cannot ask too much and still get people to buy. This is a deeded timeshare that will not expire. The use is annual as listed in the ad. This is a weeks account not a points account. If you are looking to upgrade this to RCI points you would have to ask RCI what they charge to convert. The are renovating that unit in October of this year. I did ask if there would be any assessments attached to the renovation and was assured that they renovate every 6 years regardless of any assessments. Q: Thanks so much for responding to me. I have doubted buying these points since we walked out of Christmas Mountain. The man at the preview department will not return my calls after promising some stuff that got us to buy this package. We are good friends with the [John Doe] family, and he told me to hang in there, and that he had bought points from you and was pleased. I do have another question - is it best to buy more points from the same place I started with? Since we bought at Christmas Mountain should I stay with that property? What do you advise?

I appreciate all that goes into sorting out decisions, and if I may say--I totally agree--hang in there with getting what you were promised. Also, it can seem skewed to look at resale prices right now, and think that what you paid for your first package is out of line, but prices in resale right now are so low and it puts things out of perspective a bit--over a bit of time, and once you start vacationing, you'll feel more and more like you are getting your money's worth. You will. That said, because prices are so low (as are so many things in the marketplace), adding another package may help that along a little faster because you'll have twice the vacationing power for just a bit more.
We are also glad that you were referred to us--that always feels good. What is important to look at are your budget goals-how much you want to pay annually for vacations. If this second package is sufficient, then buying at the same resort is really up to you. The advantage of your home resort is an advance reservation window, and that you can access bonus time. Irregardles, this is a fantastic value right now--$1499 including all. You really can't go wrong.

A: As stated in the ad use begins in 2011. No there would not be any compensation as you are not paying the maintenance fee for this year. If the current owner had relinquished use for this year we would be charging the $450 annual maintenance fee along with the other fees.

A: The average takes about 30-60 days. You may be able to use it prior to transfer if you really need to. I would just have one of our office ladies who works with reservations look into it.

Q: Thank you for your quick reply. This is a deeded timeshare, correct? Do the maintenance fees keep climbing up or are they steady? Is the renovation nice? I heard that Sunterra buying out the former parent company, hence, why I asked about the point system. No worries though.
A: Yes this is a deeded timeshare. The maintenance fees can increase but most resorts do not allow more than 3 or 4 percent increase. I have never myself been to this resort so I can't comment on any renovations. Actually Diamond Resorts International acquired Sunterra a couple years ago and Sunterra has since been no more.

They will only discuss upgrades point to point with the owner of the timeshare and fees are set on an individual basis. So I cannot tell you definitely that they would let you upgrade and what costs you would incur. You would have to contact Diamond directly and ask them for an answer to your question.

A: I wish it was that easy. First these are US collection points within the Diamond Resorts system. They can be used at the 19 resorts listed in the link provided in the ad. Unfortunately club points are unable to be sold resale. If you were to try to sell your points and you have deeded club points they would revert back to a week. US collection points are able to be sold as points because they are a membership and not deeded. Diamond will convert these points to the club and allow you to combine for a fee. They do it on individual basis. From what I have been told it is easier to get them to agree to discuss upgrading if you claim you just won the auction for them. Otherwise they will spend all the time trying to talk you out of buying them rather than informing you. They are first and foremost salespeople. I hope this explains everything clearly.
