New to timeshare?

Q: Hello, My name is John and I have seen some of your properties for sale on EBay. I'm new to that site and it intrigues me that properties worth as much as $20,000 can be sold for very little, even under $20.00. A friend of ours has let my family use his timeshare at Cyprus Grove in Orlando. We loved it and attended a sales presentation on Timeshares. I was not very impressed when it involve thousands of dollars of up front costs as well but this is interesting.

I have a family of eight and my in-laws accompany us on most vacations so there would usually be 10 of us traveling together. We have been going on vacation about six weeks every year. last year we went to the Dells Wisconsin for a week, Branson for a week and to Orlando for a two weeks as well as short trips to Montana, Rapid City and Mitchel South Dakota. We are retired and have a 34' Class A Mobile home that we love to use. This year we are taking the RV to Alaska for a month and are spending two weeks in Los Angeles.

So my thoughts were to buy one or two units at Branson or Wisconsin or the Montans-Idaho-South Dakota area for a two week floating stay that can also be used for its' RCI type of point/resort exchange. Two weeks is the minimum and enough room for 10 people is also the minimum. I really liked the lockout room designs we have had in Florida and in Wisconsin. It really made us feel like we had room to spare, even with so many people.

Please explain the colored weeks for exchange points system and all fees due on a recuring or one time basis.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.

A: Happy to help you on figuring out a plan--sounds like travel is a big part of your life right now. How fun :)

It might be easier to talk on the phone, but in general I see a couple options to start with. First off, I could set you up with the most choice in Branson. We do have a 3BR at French Quarter--two listings one Even Year and one Odd year, Floating Weeks 11-52. Here is a listing to take a look. I have many other two BR's, but I thought I'd start with the biggest we have running right now. Very affordable and a nice resort.

We also have a 3BR/2BA at the Cabins at Green Mountain, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350244438827

The other option would be to set you up with a RCI points package, that essentially lets you stay anywhere without the need to exchange. They are typically a bit more upon purchase but well worth it for flexibility, esp. in areas like Montana and Idaho where timeshare resale is more rare. Points allow you to reserve at any resort in RCI's system. You'll need to make sure you own enough annually to get the size and time of year you will most often desire.

Here is the link to our web site, and if you're not familiar with Points, it's a great place to start.

Scroll down and you'll see the title, "What's the point to all these points? Brief Timeshare points explanation."

Or, here's a direct link to all of our videos...they are short, but very helpful.

How about we start there, and together we'll get more clear about a direction you'd like to take. I am happy to give you a call.
